Does Monsanto’s Roundup cause celiac disease?

A 2013 study published in the Journal of Interdisciplinary Toxicology states that the increase in celiac disease in the US could be linked to Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide. Celiac is a digestive and autoimmune disorder that can damage the lining of the small intestine due to an intolerance of gluten, a protein composite found in grains like wheat, barley and rye. The study proposes that gluten intolerance is a result of glyphosate, the main ingredient in the herbicide. Monsanto disputes the paper’s findings. RT’s Perianne Boring talks to Liz Reitzig, cofounder of the Farm Food Freedom Coalition, about any connection between Roundup and a growing gluten intolerance in the US and Europe.
